Creative Team Trainer is a game-based behavior modification app that helps the user learn new skills for dealing with a difficult behavioral situation, in this particular case, an overly competitive nature.
The user was embarking on a new career path that involved more team collaboration and less autonomous work. His past work required individual decision making rather than team consensus. His competitive nature led to career success, but it also caused increased pressure and stress, long hours, and diminished his creative output. He is striving for more balance with his new career and he’s ready to embrace being a team player and improve his people skills.
To achieve these objectives, I designed a game-based behavior modification app to help him channel his competitive nature while giving him actions and tips that he can apply daily to learn new skills. Each morning he is presented with an overall goal for the day along with a concrete action that he can take to accomplish the goal. At the end of the day he is prompted to score how well he achieved his action and goal. He’s then given a score and a positive reinforcement message.
These are the steps of the process I performed to arrive at the final design.
- Research – user interview; competitive analysis, persona, user scenario, user story, customer journey
- Planning – brainstorming, initial sketching, layout, storyboarding
- Designing – user flows, inVision sketch prototype
- Prototyping – clickable prototype with Axure, usability testing (2nd iteration)
